1. Who we are
WebJustice is an Ontario-based legal information and document-preparation technology service. This notice applies to the WebJustice mobile application and related web workspace. Privacy and account-deletion requests can be sent to justice@webjustice.ca.
2. Information we collect
Depending on the features you use, WebJustice processes:
- Account and profile details: email address, account name or profile information, password authentication records, email-verification status, optional two-factor authentication settings, and session information.
- Workspace materials: case interviews, saved cases, uploaded documents, generated files, case calendars, reminders, AI conversations and saved outputs.
- Security and operational information: device/browser session identifiers, network or IP data in service and security logs, anti-abuse counters, and diagnostic events.
- Communications: support requests, account-verification and reminder emails.
Some case materials may contain sensitive information about litigation, finances, health, children or other individuals. Please provide only information that is relevant and that you have a right to submit.
3. Why we use the information
We use the information to create and authenticate accounts; save and retrieve private case materials; generate documents; operate user-requested AI and research features; provide reminders and support; protect accounts and infrastructure; investigate misuse; maintain backups; and comply with applicable legal obligations. We do not sell user-submitted confidential case materials for advertising.
4. AI requests and international processing
When you initiate an AI feature, relevant questions, case details or conversation context may be transmitted to the configured OpenAI API and supporting research services for the requested task. Those providers may process data outside Canada and may retain limited data under their applicable service and security rules. Deleting content in WebJustice does not guarantee immediate deletion of copies or logs held independently by those providers.
Review content before relying on AI-generated legal information. Avoid submitting unnecessary personal identifiers or third-party confidential information.
5. Other providers
WebJustice uses hosting and database infrastructure, email delivery services, Cloudflare security services, and encrypted backup systems to operate and protect the service. These providers may process limited information necessary to deliver their services. Payment and subscription functions are not enabled in the current mobile test release; if they are launched, the policy and applicable disclosures will be updated before release.
Data sent to outside service providers can be subject to their infrastructure locations, retention schedules and contractual obligations. We do not represent that all processing or storage occurs only in Canada.
6. Security and cookies
WebJustice employs transport encryption, account authentication, access controls, application-level encryption for saved case and document records, security monitoring, and optional authenticator-based two-factor authentication. Passwords are stored as hashes rather than as plaintext application passwords. First-party session and trusted-device cookies help maintain authenticated access; Cloudflare may process technical signals to screen automated or abusive traffic.
No online service can promise absolute security. Downloaded account exports may not be encrypted and should be stored carefully.
7. Data retention and deletion
Account and workspace data generally remain available while your account exists, unless you delete particular material or request account closure. WebJustice provides account-level deletion controls, and its normal deletion workflow removes user-owned active records associated with the account. Some security/audit metadata, legally required records and third-party copies may remain where justified.
Encrypted recovery backups may retain deleted records until the copies expire. The current ordinary rotation includes daily copies for 30 days and monthly copies for 12 months, with recent recovery snapshots also kept. Separately tagged snapshots or legally preserved records may be subject to different retention. These schedules should not be mistaken for an immediate purge of every backup or provider system.
To delete your account without needing to sign into the app, see our public Account Deletion page. You can email justice@webjustice.ca and request confirmation of the retention rules applying to your information.
8. Your choices and requests
Where supported by the service, you can review or correct saved information, export account records and documents, delete individual cases, decline optional AI requests, or request deletion of your account. We may verify identity before making changes to sensitive data. Contact us if you cannot use the in-app controls or wish to request access or correction.
9. Children and third-party information
WebJustice may be used by adults preparing matters involving children or other third parties. These records may be especially sensitive. Users should minimize identifiers and comply with any applicable confidentiality restrictions, court orders and consent obligations. The service is not intended to solicit personal information directly from children.
10. Contact and policy changes
For privacy, access, correction, deletion or complaint requests, contact justice@webjustice.ca. We may revise this notice as our service, providers or legal obligations change; material changes will be identified in an updated policy date and communicated where appropriate.
